Solar-powered chargers are all the rage right now.  The LilyPad has already doubled its needed funds on Kickstarter, and it still has 13 days to go.  And now, we add the Electree to the mix.

Less portable than the LilyPad, the Electree is shaped like a bonsai tree (the branches can even be rearranged for more unique looks).  You can plug in a USB or AC adapter-powered device, which gives you the ability to charge just about anything.

The only downside?  It contains its own battery, so unlike the LilyPad which appears to charge the iPad directly through solar energy, the Electree must first solar-charge for 36 hours before you can plug in your phone.  Of course, it is still an improvement over plugging in your phone to your wall outlet.

On presale through Ulule for €269 (around $370), you can order your Electree and get it by Christmas if it reaches the required sales.  Can you think of anyone in your family or group of friends who would love to have this on their window sill?  Of course, it’s ok to shop for your own Christmas presents . . . .
