We often think of solar panels as something we see on everyday items like calculators, or as the new trend in going green at home. Did you ever think that there would be a way to charge your iPad via solar panels?
LilyPad would offer just that. Not only does it convert both outdoor and indoor light, but it continually keeps your iPad charged and ready to use. The LilyPad includes a USB port so that you can charge your other electronic devices. It’s like a portable docking station, but solar powered and wireless. It keeps your iPad protected, features a few different stand positions, and an HDMI output. Because it didn’t do enough cool things already, it also has a whistle locator.
Before you get too excited about this project, it is not on the market yet. In fact, the inventor, David Foster, is featured on Kickstarter, a website devoted to getting creative products off of the ground. Basically, if you help out with a pledge, this is a product we could see in the future. And by pledging $165 or more, you could become one of the first owners of the LilyPad.
Think about all of the different ramifications something like this might have for tablets and smartphones. It is a pretty incredible idea that can transform over time into something even more spectacular.
And in case the mere idea of it doesn’t get you all excited, then check out the product video below.
