TurboTax SnapTax App Files Your Taxes From Your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch
The deadline for filing your 2011 tax return is fast approaching. Many of us like to wait until the last minute to file, putting off what can seem like a lengthy annual chore. But now thanks to the new TurboTax SnapTax app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, filing your taxes is only a few clicks away.
SnapTax is only available for 1040-EZ filers so far. It only takes W-2 forms won’t work for more advanced tax filing of 1099 and other tax forms in its current version. If all you have to file is a W-2 then download the app for free and you’re all set.
Simply take a photo of your W-2 form with the camera on your Apple device and the Snap Tax app will enter all the relevant information automatically. It will lead you through all of the relevant tax questions just like the standard TurboTax release version and you don’t have to be connected to the Internet until you’re ready to file.
When you’re done answering questions and ready to e-file, you’ll have to pay for the service. SnapTax starts at $29.99, so be ready to input your payment information to complete the process. Once you’ve completed the process, just sit back and wait for your tax refund to come your way.
Is this the start of the next phase of technologically advanced tax filing? Is it beneficial to have all your tax data stored in your device? What do you think? Leave a comment below.
